It may be one of the simplest applications included in our fax software review but SuperFax still constitutes decent fax software that’s worth a look. SuperFax includes all the essentials needed to turn your PC and modem into a powerful fax machine. The software lets you send faxes by scanning a document or sending a fax from any Windows application, and includes most of the features we sought such as auto receive and forward by email, to further enhance your faxing experience.

Feature Set:

Like most software products in our lineup, SuperFax enables you to send faxes directly from any Windows application. A built-in printer driver can be accessed by simply clicking on print and selecting the PIC printer. The software also includes the ability to receive faxes automatically and fax to multiple recipients through a fax broadcasting function.

SuperFax software makes organizing and sending faxes to your contacts easy by providing users with a built-in phonebook. It not only alphabetizes your contacts but allows you to divide your contacts into specified groups. After creating a new fax, use your phone book to select your contact, and then insert their info into your fax by just a few simple clicks. You can also import your contacts from Outlook, WinFax or any other CVS file.

Another feature that makes SuperFax a standout PC fax software application is its ability to forward faxes as PDF or TIFF files. You can also export your scanned documents as PDF files and save received faxes as PDF files.

While SuperFax offers plenty of commendable features, it disappointingly lacks a few key functionalities we considered paramount in fax software. For instance, the software doesn’t offer integration with Microsoft Outlook, which would allow you to seamlessly import your Outlook contacts into the software. Moreover, the software doesn’t have the explicit ability to block junk faxes or unwanted faxes from specific numbers.

Extras:

Several unique extras can be found in SuperFax. If you’d rather not use your land line to send a fax to a long distance number, SuperFax lets you use calling cards. You can also add as many attachments as you’d like with this versatile faxing application. And while its cover page editor is not as versatile as those on other applications we reviewed, SuperFax offers one that sufficiently allows you to create and edit basic cover pages.

SuperFax includes an additional program called SuperTerminal, an independent data-communication program that allows you to access external bulletin board systems and computers with data communication capabilities. You can also upload and download data and text files using SuperTerminal.

Disappointingly, SuperFax does not have the ability to include a digital signature on faxes. However, this is an extra that only a handful of fax software products offer, so we weren’t really surprised to find an application as basic as SuperFax didn’t offer it either.

Ease of Use:

The simple design of the main interface, which includes eight frequently-used function buttons, makes it easy to access the fax software’s essential tools. The setup button is particularly helpful as it goes over the main features of the software, with detailed descriptions and links to the apropos areas of the software.

Help & Support:

Previous versions of SuperFax were sorely lagging in terms of help and support so we were happy to find the latest version of the fax software includes more comprehensive customer support. The software has a built-in help index that can be accessed directly from the interface and the software’s website includes a detailed FAQs section. On the manufacturer’s website, there’s a tech support forum where you can converse with other users and an email address that can be used to contact the company directly. The only way SuperFax’s help and support section could be improved is if the company offered technical support via telephone.

Summary:

Don’t let the simple design of SuperFax fool you. This full-featured fax software has everything you need to make faxing from your computer easy and functional. It may be missing a few wanted functionalities but overall, SuperFax proves to be a quality fax software application that's definitely worthy of consideration.
